Bus Policy
Purpose
To ensure that the school bus service operates safely, smoothly, and on time, we kindly ask all parents and guardians to follow the guidelines below.
1. Pick-Up and Waiting Time
- Students should be ready and waiting at the agreed pick-up point before the bus arrives.
- The bus will wait for a maximum of 2 minutes at each agreed stop.
- If the child is not at the pick-up point within 2 minutes, the bus will leave and continue its route.
2. Safety on the Bus
- All children must remain seated while the bus is moving.
- Seat belts must be worn at all times when the bus is in motion.
- Bus doors must remain closed while the bus is moving.
- Students must follow the instructions of the bus driver and chaperone at all times.
3. Food and Drinks
- Eating is not permitted on the school bus.
- Students may bring and drink water only.
- Please ensure that water bottles are securely closed when not in use.
4. Agreed Stops and Routes
- Students may only be picked up and dropped off at the agreed bus stop registered with the school.
- Parents may not request a different drop-off or pick-up point directly from the driver or chaperone.
- Changes to the bus stop or route must be requested through the Bus Coordinator, Ms Ayu, and will only be made once approved by the school.
- The driver and chaperone are not authorised to make changes to the agreed route or stops.
5. Collection of EYFS and Primary Students
For the safety of our younger students, children in EYFS and Primary will only be released to a named and approved adult.
- Parents/guardians must inform the school in advance of the name of the adult who will meet and collect the child.
- Parents should also inform the school who will release the child during morning pick-up and who will greet the child at home / apartment lobby.
- The approved adult should be present and clearly identifiable when the child is dropped off.
- The child will not be released to an unapproved person, even if the person is known to the child.
- If no named and approved adult is present at the agreed stop, the child will remain on the bus and be returned to school.
- Parents will then be contacted by the Transport Coordinator.
6. Communication with the School
To ensure that all transport arrangements are communicated clearly and safely:
- All parent communication regarding the school bus must go through the Transport Coordinator, Ms Ayu Fitriani, at afitriani@isj.id.
- Parents should not give instructions or request changes directly from the bus driver or chaperone.
- This includes requests regarding:
- Pick-up or drop-off locations
- Route changes
- Changes to the person collecting the child
- Schedule changes
- Absences or changes to bus attendance
- Any other transport-related arrangements
- The driver and chaperone need to remain focused on the safe transportation and supervision of the children.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities
Parents and guardians are kindly asked to:
- Ensure their child is ready and waiting before the bus arrives.
- Ensure the school has the correct and up-to-date emergency contact details.
- Inform the Transport Coordinator in advance if their child will not be using the bus.
- Ensure that an approved adult is present to receive EYFS and Primary students.
- Follow the agreed bus stop and route arrangements.
- Communicate all transport-related requests through Ms Ayu.
- In accordance with school policy, students are not permitted to use mobile phones on the school bus or bring mobile phones to ISJ, unless prior approval has been granted by the Academic Director.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in following these procedures. These guidelines are in place to protect our students, support our bus staff, and ensure that the school bus service remains safe, reliable, and punctual for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
